Finally, But Not

January 2011

This is the 25th of 25 posts in the series Japan 2009.

That just about wraps things up. Ava and I returned to Tokyo for three days, but I didn't take too many photos. We visited a few of the districts, looking for this or that, but it was a casual sort of sightseeing and shopping.

I wish I could say I came back with some sort of life-changing experience or profound insight, that every inch of my Moleskine was filled with sketches and essays, ideas and revelations, but that is not the case. My notebook is littered only with a few scrawls, names and notes of things that I knew I would forget, half of which were written so hastily they're indecipherable.

The only thing I know for sure is this: I like traveling. I like taking photographs. I want to do more of these things, become better at these things, and visit and see so much more.

Thank you to everyone for reading. I know it took a long time, sixteen months to document the sixteen days of our Japan vacation. Your patience and encouragement have meant more than you might know. I hope I have captured at least a sliver of what we experienced, and I hope you found something to enjoy.

Well, at least that's done, so now we can start working on the next adventure:

Crap. Looks like I need to learn how to publish my photos faster.

August 1 — August 16, 2009.

Paul traveled with a Canon EOS 500D T1i, Canon EF-S 17-85mm ƒ/4-5.6 IS and a Sigma 30mm ƒ/1.4 HSM. Though Ava's photos are not published here, she travelled with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3.
